Irish actor Barry Keoghan has reacted strongly to the inhumane trolling on social media in a recent statement. He accused some people of threatening him while citing the effect of this trolling on his family.

Releasing a lengthy statement on X on social media on Saturday, and deactivating his Instagram account before that, the “Saltburn” actor said, “I was taking it all in peace till now. But now things have reached a level where many boundaries have been crossed. Going. I can’t let this affect my family and work.”

Difficult childhood journey:-

Keoghan, best known for his role in the Oscar- nominated The Banshees of Inishrein, was born in Dublin, Ireland. His childhood was very difficult. His mother suffered from heroin addiction, so he had to live in various foster homes and with his grandmother. His mother died at the age of 12 and his father also passed away at the age of 15.

Today, Keoghan is taking custody of his 2- year- old son, Brando. However, some critics have criticized his parenting, particularly his relationship with his former partner.

Personal attacks due to trolling:-

Keoghan said, “Nobody should have to read the kind of messages I’ve received. They’re false accusations, hateful thoughts, horrible comments based on my appearance, personality, and my parentage.” “People are also criticizing my mother, she was a heroin addict, people are calling me ‘heroin baby’. It’s very hurtful,” he noted.

He added, “People are threatening my grandmother’s house. People are sitting outside my child’s house and harassing the family. It is all crossing the line.”

Impact on personal life:-

The issue comes after the alleged end of his relationship with American singer Sabrina Carpenter. However, this is not the first time Keoghan has spoken out about online trolling.

In a recent interview on the “Louis Theroux Podcast”, he discussed in detail the effects of trolling on his mental and personal life.

“People judge my parenting. But unless you have experienced my childhood struggles, you have no right to speak,” he asserted.

A decision to keep a child off the Internet:-

Speaking about his son, Keoghan said, “I’ve done a lot less posting about my son on social media, because I don’t think it’s fair. There are a lot of bad people in the world today.”

“But because I decided to do this, people thought I was an absentee father. People started calling me ‘deadbeat dad’. It’s infuriating to hear things like that.”

Criticism of appearance:-

hits backKeoghan also mentioned the criticism of his appearance due to trolling. “People sit on TikTok and criticize my face, call me weird or bad- looking. It’s very annoying,” he said.

Keoghan’s statement underscores the seriousness of online trolling. This trolling is not only affecting the entertainers but also their families. By speaking out against trolling, Keoghan also has an important message for others.
