Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz pushed the French Open final to a deciding set by saving three match points against Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz was down 5-3, 40-0 in the fourth set but fought back to win the set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (3).

Sinner, currently ranked No. 1, took the first two sets 6-4, 7-6 (4), while Alcaraz claimed the third set 6-4.

Both players share seven major titles between them—Alcaraz with four and Sinner with three. This marks Sinner’s first appearance in a French Open final.

Sinner comes into the match riding a 20-match winning streak in Grand Slam events, having won the U.S. Open and Australian Open earlier this year.

Alcaraz, 22, boasts a dominant 21-1 record on clay this season and has beaten the 23-year-old Sinner in all four of their recent encounters. Overall, Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 7-4.
