Former NFL coach and former Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio was arrested last week on drunken driving charges. This incident report was released by the Madison (Wisconsin) Police Department.

University of Wisconsin football head coach Luke Fickell said Monday that Del Rio has decided to step down as a senior adviser. “He has decided to go ahead and resign,” Fickell told reporters. “It’s a tough situation and everyone has to take full responsibility for their own decisions. Jack’s going to do the same, and we’ll get through this.”

Around 12:30 a.m. Friday, Del Rio was driving a vehicle that hit a road sign and smashed through a fence, eventually coming to a stop in a home’s yard. According to eyewitnesses, the police who reached the spot found Del Rio walking from the scene. Del Rio, 61, appeared to have been drinking and told police he was driving, according to the report. He was charged with driving under the influence for the first time and was later released.

Del Rio also stated in his resignation, “I have decided to step away from the team so that they can fully focus on the rest of the season.”

The Del Rio incident has created a difficult situation for the Wisconsin football team. Although he has gained a lot of experience in the NFL, this incident is likely to affect his professional future.

Del Rio has extensive experience coaching in the NFL and college football. He tried to lead the Wisconsin team in a better direction. However, due to this problem, he had to step down from his post.
