Basketball legend Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports as a special contributor to its NBA broadcasts starting with the 2025-26 season, the network announced Monday during its upfront event at Radio City Music Hall.
“I’m so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” Jordan said in a video message. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”
NBC is set to resume its NBA coverage for the first time in over two decades. The network previously held the rights from 1990 to 2002, a period that included all six of Jordan’s championship wins with the Chicago Bulls.
This marks Jordan’s first official role with a broadcast network. His rare public reflections in the 2020 documentary The Last Dance, which chronicled his career and the end of the Bulls dynasty, drew widespread attention and acclaim.
“Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself,” said NBC Sports President Rick Cordella. “We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”
NBC’s new 11-year deal with the NBA and WNBA begins in October. As part of the agreement, Peacock will stream exclusive Monday night games, while NBC and Peacock will co-host regional doubleheaders on Tuesdays. A new “Sunday Night Basketball” segment will debut in January across both platforms.
