Lady Gaga made a triumphant return to Coachella’s main stage Friday night during the festival’s second weekend, delivering another electrifying performance despite a brief technical hiccup.
Just like during her first-weekend set in Indio, California, the pop icon kicked off her show with a bang, opening with her latest single “Abracadabra.” A few seconds into the performance, her head mic malfunctioned, cutting out unexpectedly. Gaga didn’t miss a beat—she quickly switched to a handheld microphone to finish the song and was later fitted with a new head mic to continue the show without further interruption.
Seated at the piano later in the night, Gaga addressed the incident. “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second,” she told the crowd. “At least you know I sing live!” The audience roared with approval as she added, “I guess all we can do is our best, and I’m certainly giving you my best tonight.”
“Abracadabra” is the second single from her seventh solo album Mayhem, which was released last month. The album’s first single, “Disease,” debuted last fall and helped set the tone for this new era in Gaga’s music.
In March, she also announced her upcoming “Mayhem Ball” tour, which launches July 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The North American leg includes stops in cities like Seattle, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Toronto before heading to Europe in September.
Gaga is also scheduled to bring the “Mayhem” experience to fans in Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore with performances slated later this month and into May.
