Australia’s Min Woo Lee is on the verge of securing his first PGA Tour victory after an outstanding third round at the Houston Open on Saturday. Lee fired a seven-under-par 63, making birdies or pars on every hole, which propelled him to a four-shot lead heading into the final round.

The round came after a long day, as Lee had to complete the final two holes of his second round on Saturday morning before starting the third round later that day.

“Today was a really long day, I need to get back into bed,” Lee joked after his round. “Maybe I need two warm-ups, two physio sessions, and then I can shoot seven-under all the time. It was great fun.”

Lee, whose sister is LPGA star Minjee Lee, has yet to win on the PGA Tour after 55 starts but has shown flashes of his potential. He tied for sixth at the 2023 Players Championship and fifth at the 2023 US Open. This season, he finished tied for 20th at the Players Championship, though he faded in the final rounds after a strong start.

Scottie Scheffler, who was the overnight leader, struggled to maintain his form after matching the course record with an eight-under 62 in the second round. He sits at 12 under, tied for third with Ryan Gerard and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti is in second place, one shot ahead.

Looking ahead to the final round, Lee is focused on getting some rest.

“It’s tough… we finished at 8 p.m. last night and had to wake up at 5 a.m.,” he said. “You only get five or six hours of sleep… I’m proud of how I handled myself today and hopefully I can do it again tomorrow.”

Lee will tee off for the final round at 1:01 p.m. ET on Sunday.
