Expanding Their Family

Jennifer Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, are set to welcome their second child, as confirmed by her representative to Vogue on Sunday. The 34-year-old actress showcased her baby bump during a dinner outing in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 19. Vogue was the first to break the news.

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney, who got married in 2019, are already parents to their 2-year-old son, Cy. Us Weekly previously reported that they were considering having a second child. In June 2023, a source revealed, “They were uncertain at first due to the demands of parenting, but they’re completely in love with Cy and enjoy sharing videos with friends and family. They’ve begun to embrace the idea of expanding their family.”

Navigating Parenthood

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney, an art gallerist, have mostly kept their family life with their son, Cy, private. The Hunger Games star has previously shared her struggles with “mom guilt” as she juggles work and parenting. In a June 2022 interview for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” she expressed, “Every day as a mom, I feel terrible. I often wonder if I’m doing the right thing. While I’m playing with him, I question if he’d rather be outside. And when we are outside, I worry about him getting cold or sick. Am I doing enough for his development?”

Lawrence also confessed that becoming a parent was “the scariest thing in the entire world.”

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney named their first son after the painter Cy Twombly, and they experienced a profound emotional shift when he was born. In an October 2022 interview with Vogue, Lawrence reflected, “My heart has expanded in ways I didn’t know were possible. I include my husband in that. They’re both out there — walking, crossing streets. One day, he’ll be driving and I’ll just think, ‘Good night!’ It’s hard to imagine sleeping then!”

She also described the day after Cy’s birth, saying, “It felt like my whole life had started over. It was like day one of my life. I was just so in love. I even fell in love with all babies. Newborns are incredible — these pink, fragile little survivors.”
