Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has issued a statement asserting that he did not behave inappropriately while receiving professional bodywork treatment. He also expressed regret and offered an apology.
“It deeply troubles me to learn that anyone I’ve worked with might not have felt respected and valued, not just professionally but as a person. To anyone who feels that way, I sincerely apologize,” Tucker said in a statement provided through his publicist. “I want to assure you that I am committed to making sure that everyone I interact with knows they are respected and cared for as a human being.”
The Baltimore Banner has reported that 16 massage therapists from eight different spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area have accused Tucker of inappropriate sexual conduct. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta described the allegations as “serious” and “concerning,” and the NFL has launched an investigation.
When the allegations against Justin Tucker surfaced late last month, the five-time All-Pro kicker issued a statement denying any prior complaints from massage therapists or any instances where he was told he was unwelcome at a spa or other business.
In his statement on Wednesday, Justin Tucker described the allegations as “shocking and heart-breaking.”
He maintained that he never acted inappropriately during any professional bodywork treatment and emphasized that he had never been told he was unwelcome at any massage therapy provider. “These claims are simply not true,” Tucker said. He added that over the past four weeks, he had spent countless hours reflecting on all his interactions with bodywork professionals over the past 13 years. He assured that he had never intended to disrespect anyone, cross any boundaries, or make anyone feel uncomfortable.
