Ederson set a Premier League record for goalkeepers on Saturday by recording his sixth assist in the competition during Manchester City’s match against Newcastle. In the 19th minute, Ederson launched a long ball that reached Omar Marmoush, who then skillfully lobbed Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to score the opening goal at the Etihad Stadium.
The Brazilian goalkeeper surpassed the previous record of five assists held by former Premier League goalkeepers Paul Robinson, who played for Leeds, Tottenham, and Blackburn. This assist was also Ederson’s third of the season, marking another Premier League record for assists in a single campaign, according to stats provider Opta.
Marmoush went on to complete a first-half hat-trick, putting City 3-0 ahead by the 33rd minute.
