Cecile Richards, a well-known women’s rights advocate and former president of Planned Parenthood, has passed away at the age of 67, according to her family. They shared a statement saying, “This morning our beloved Cecile passed away at home, surrounded by her family and her loyal dog, Ollie. Our hearts are broken today, but no words can fully express the joy she brought into our lives.”

The family also expressed gratitude for the care provided by doctors and healthcare workers, as well as the support from friends, family, and well-wishers during this difficult time. Richards had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in 2023, which she revealed in an interview last year.

The family of Cecile Richards has shared a heartfelt invitation for those wishing to honor her memory: “We invite you to put on some New Orleans jazz, gather with friends and family over a good meal.”

They also quoted Richards, reflecting on her dedication to social causes: “It’s not hard to imagine future generations one day asking: ‘When there was so much at stake for our country, what did you do?’ The only acceptable answer is: ‘Everything we could.’”

Richards, who served as president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund from 2006 to 2018, leaves behind a powerful legacy of fiercely advocating for abortion rights.
