Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who gained notoriety for her involvement in the death of her abusive mother, Dee Dee, has welcomed her first child. Her boyfriend, Ken Urker, shared a picture of the new mom and baby, captioning it, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all.”
Blanchard’s baby was born on December 28, marking exactly one year since her release from prison. She shared with People that her baby’s name is Aurora, inspired by the couple’s admiration for the aurora borealis, or northern lights.
Blanchard had been serving a 10-year sentence for her part in her mother’s murder but was released in December 2023 after serving more than seven years. Her mother had subjected her to Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition where a caregiver fakes or induces illness in a child for attention.
In 2024, Blanchard reconnected with her former fiancé, Ken Urker. She had previously been married to Ryan Anderson but filed for divorce in April. Blanchard revealed in a YouTube video that her pregnancy was unplanned but that she and Urker were excited about their new parenthood journey.
Her story, which intrigued true crime enthusiasts, was dramatized in the 2019 Hulu series “The Act.” After her release, Blanchard began sharing her experiences, appearing on the Lifetime reality series “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup” and releasing a memoir in December.
