Dayle Haddon, a former model known for gracing magazine covers and appearing in TV shows and films in the ’70s and ’80s, including North Dallas Forty, Max Headroom, and The Hitchhiker, has died at the age of 76. Authorities say her death appears to have been caused by a carbon monoxide leak in Solebury, Pennsylvania.
According to the Solebury Township Police Department, Haddon was found deceased in a second-floor bedroom of a detached office/in-law suite at a residence on Friday morning. A 76-year-old man, Walter J. Blucas, was also discovered unconscious at the scene and is now in critical condition at a hospital. Walter J. Blucas is the father of actor Marc Blucas. Representatives for Marc Blucas have been contacted for comment.
On her verified Instagram, Dayle Haddon’s daughter, Ryan Haddon, shared a heartfelt tribute to her mother, describing her as “a woman in her power, yet soft and attentive to all. Deeply creative and curious, gifted with beauty inside and out. Always kind and thoughtful.”
The post featured several images of Haddon’s work as a model, including covers for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan, along with a photo of one of her books, The Five Principles of Ageless Living, published in 2003.
According to police, their investigation revealed that a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak.
The Solebury Township Police Department extended its condolences to the Haddon and Blucas families, noting that this tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of carbon monoxide safety precautions in homes.
