Freddie Freeman’s historic walk-off grand slam ball from Game 1 of the World Series has been sold for $1.56 million at auction. The bidding, which took place late into Saturday night, was handled by SCP Auctions, though the identity of the buyer has not been disclosed.

In the game, Freeman, the first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was playing with a sprained right ankle. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, he hit the first pitch from Nestor Cortes 413 feet, securing the first-ever walk-off grand slam in World Series history. The Dodgers won the game 6-3 and later went on to win the World Series in five games, claiming their eighth championship.

This is the second notable Dodgers-related ball to be auctioned this season. Earlier, the ball hit by Shohei Ohtani, marking his achievement of becoming the first player in MLB history with at least 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season, sold for nearly $4.4 million, setting a record for the most expensive sports ball ever sold.
