Milwaukee Brewers rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a contusion on his left tibia.

The move was announced Sunday, just before Misiorowski was originally scheduled to start against the Washington Nationals. The injury designation is retroactive to Thursday, a few days after he was struck in the shin by a line drive during the first inning of a game against the Chicago Cubs.

Despite the initial pain and a moment where his knee seemed to give out while fielding a soft ground ball—leading to an errant throw—Misiorowski continued the outing. He bounced back to retire 10 straight batters and threw 40 pitches across the next three innings.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Misiorowski said he expects to miss only two starts and hopes to return to the mound once the 15-day period ends.

To fill his spot, the Brewers recalled right-hander Logan Henderson from Triple-A Nashville. Henderson is expected to make the start in Sunday’s series finale against Washington.

Misiorowski has had a solid rookie season so far, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.70 ERA.
