Kate, the Princess of Wales, made her appearance at the All England Club on Saturday to attend the Wimbledon women’s singles final, marking a significant return as she prepared to present the trophy to the winner. Her presence was especially notable as she had missed last year’s match while recovering from cancer.
According to the All England Club, Kate, who is married to Prince William, was seated in the Royal Box on Centre Court to watch the final match between eighth seed Iga Swiatek and 13th seed Amanda Anisimova. Following the match, she was scheduled to take part in the on-court trophy ceremony.
Since becoming patron of the All England Club in 2016, Kate has often attended both the men’s and women’s finals. However, she was absent from last year’s women’s final when Barbora Krejcikova defeated Jasmine Paolini to claim the title.
Despite her absence from that match, Kate did present the trophy to Carlos Alcaraz after his win against Novak Djokovic in the men’s final—a rare public appearance at the time, following her cancer diagnosis.
In recent months, she has been gradually resuming her royal responsibilities. Earlier this week, she participated in welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron during his official visit to the United Kingdom, signaling her steady return to public life after completing chemotherapy last fall.
