Fashion icon Giorgio Armani will not be making his usual appearance to take a bow after his upcoming runway shows at Milan Fashion Week, his fashion house announced on Friday.
The 90-year-old designer is currently recuperating at home, according to a short statement from the brand. No specific details were shared regarding his health condition.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Armani’s namesake fashion label. He is set to celebrate his 91st birthday on July 11.
“Although he cannot attend in person, he will be closely monitoring every step of the shows,” the company said. Armani’s longtime collaborator and head of menswear design, Leo Dell’Orco, will stand in for him and take the final bow.
The Spring-Summer 2026 Emporio Armani menswear collection is scheduled to be unveiled on Saturday during Milan Fashion Week, while the Giorgio Armani menswear collection will wrap up the event’s largely menswear-focused schedule on Monday.
The fashion house emphasized that Armani remained deeply involved in preparing the new collections, continuing to work “with his usual dedication.”
Famous for his tireless work ethic, Armani even spent his 90th birthday at the office. In June 2021, following the pandemic lockdowns, he returned to live runway shows and appeared with a noticeable scar on his left arm—an injury from a fall at a cinema after winter restrictions were eased. Despite the setback, he went on to help finalize both his menswear and Armani Privé couture collections at that time.
