A 3.9 magnitude earthquake hit the San Fernando Valley around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, with tremors felt throughout the Los Angeles area, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 1.2 miles east-southeast of North Hollywood. It struck just hours after the Oscars ceremony took place.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake, which occurred at a depth of nearly 10 miles, according to the USGS.

According to the USGS “Did You Feel It?” report, over 8,000 people across the greater Los Angeles area reported feeling the shaking.

The Los Angeles Fire Department stated on X that it would not be activating earthquake mode.

Producers near the epicenter reported experiencing strong tremors, while shaking was particularly noticeable inside the News studio of KCAL/KCBS in Studio City.

“It was so scary,” one man in North Hollywood told KCAL/KCBS. “I heard some noise, and then the ground started shaking very hard. … I was initially calm, but we were surprised. We just kept drinking and enjoying our night.”
